Back pain is one of the most common causes of pain and disability. Injuries to this area often involve muscles, the spine, and the nerves that exit the spine. Back pain and injuries are commonly due to activities that require excessive load with movements like bending and rotating.

Common injuries and conditions include:

  • Back sprains/strains
  • Disc lesions
  • Lumbar radiculopathy
  • Sacroiliitis
  • Spondylolesthesis/Spondylolysis

At TrueFix Physical Therapy, we are highly trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat the above conditions that might be affecting your ability to be pain free and do the things that you love. An individualized approach and attention to your specific deficits is paramount for proper recovery and return to the activities you love.

Back Conditions We Treat

Back sprains/strains:
Back sprains or strains occur when the muscles, tendons, or ligaments of the back are overstretched or overloaded. Lumbar strains account for over 70% of mechanical back pain.

Disc lesions/degeneration:
Disc lesions/degeneration include any injuries or changes to the discs of your spine. This includes degenerative disc disease, bulged discs, and herniated discs. Discs act as shock absorbers for the individual segments of your spine, as well as provide sufficient space for the nerves of your spinal cord to pass freely.

Lumbar radiculopathy:
Radiculopathy refers to an injury to a nerve root at a specific level of your spine. Injuries to nerve roots can be caused by many different reasons. Symptoms include pain, weakness in limbs, numbness/paresthesia, and difficulty in controlling specific muscles.

Sacroiliitis:
The joints that connect your pelvis to your spine are known as your sacroiliac joints (SI joints). These joints may become inflamed due to a number of reasons, resulting in pain and dysfunction that is felt at the junction of the lower back and hips.
