Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a physician's referral?
- You do not need a physician’s referral to work with us. Kansas is considered a direct access state, which means that you don’t have to deal with the headache of waiting multiple weeks to get an appointment with your physician, just to be told that you need physical therapy.
- As Doctor’s of Physical Therapy, we are trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat your specific musculoskeletal condition. Should we feel that you’d benefit from further consultation with another specialist, we’ll be able to refer you appropriately.
What should I expect during my initial visit?
- You can expect a thorough examination – history collection and a full assessment that often includes range of motion, strength, neurological screening, and special testing to determine if it is a musculoskeletal condition that we can help with. If it is not, then we will help get you with the right type of provider.
- We will then go through a trial of treatment based on the findings to get you started on the path of feeling and moving better.
- We will clearly present our findings, make sure you have a good understanding of your condition, and then provide our recommendation for the best course of action.
Do I need an X-Ray or MRI?
- Unfortunately, X-Ray’s and MRI’s don’t tell the whole story. Our comprehensive evaluation will guide us into a better understanding of the specific cause of your pain and/or limitations. Should we feel you’d benefit from further imaging, we will guide you accordingly.
What conditions can you help with?
- Our focus is on musculoskeletal dysfunction and how to optimize movement, performance, and overall health. Whether it’s your neck, back, arm, leg, or pelvic region…we got you covered!
I’m not really injured. Can I still come in and find out if and how I can make myself better?
- We are here for you! We have created a full body physical assessment that will provide insight into any significant limitations in range of motion, strength, and functional capacity. We are also very competent in most modes of exercise and can provide guidance on proper technique to ensure that you are doing what is best for YOU!
- This is what we believe Physical Therapy should be. We love to help prevent injury, rather than wait until a person is injured to help them out. Insurance doesn’t believe in this type of preventative care. Well it’s a good thing we don’t work for insurance! We work for YOU!
Do you take my insurance?
- We are proud to say that we are out of network with all insurance companies. Why are we proud? The traditional insurance model has many limitations that ultimately end up affecting you. We’ve decided that to provide the transparent, high quality, individualized treatment we strive to offer, insurance can’t be in the equation. The good news for you? Our services are created for you. Not for your insurance company. Also, it’s often a cheaper option to be seen out of network than it is to go through insurance.
Can I submit my claims for out of network reimbursement from my insurance?
- Absolutely. We will provide you with a superbill that contains all of the necessary information your insurance company needs to process your out of network claim.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
- Yes. In most cases, we qualify as a medical service that can be paid for with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
