Discover the Health Benefits of the Turkish Get-Up!

This newsletter will introduce you to an incredible exercise to consider adding to your fitness routine and improve your overall health. Say hello to the Turkish Get-Up (TGU), a full-body movement that engages multiple muscle groups while promoting a wide range of health benefits.

What is the Turkish Get-Up?

Why should you learn the Turkish Get-Up?

  • To Develop & Strengthen Core & Upper Body: As you move from lying to standing position, you challenge your abdominals, obliques, and lower back muscles. The TGU heavily engages the muscles in your arms, shoulders, and chest. As you progress through the exercise, you’ll build strength in your shoulders and stabilizer muscles, resulting in improved upper body strength and stability.
  • To Boost Hip Mobility and Flexibility: The TGU involves several movements that require hip mobility and flexibility. By practicing this exercise regularly, you’ll enhance the range of motion in your hips, improving your overall mobility. This can be particularly useful for individuals with sedentary lifestyles or those who experience hip tightness or discomfort.
  • To Enhance Balance and Mind-Body Coordination: TGU requires precise movements, making it an exceptional exercise for improving balance and coordination. By incorporating this exercise into your routine, you’ll enhance your proprioception and body awareness, leading to better control over your movements. The TGU requires concentration, body awareness, and mindfulness. By performing this exercise, you develop mental focus and a stronger mind-body connection.
  • To improve Overall Functional Strength: The TGU is a compound exercise that works multiple muscle groups simultaneously. By incorporating this movement into your workout routine, you’ll develop functional strength that translates into real-life activities. From lifting heavy objects to performing daily tasks with ease, the TGU prepares your body for the demands of everyday life.
